Legal Developments in LGBTQ Family Equality
/

We want families of all kinds to be legally protected, and for families in the LGBTQ community, there are additional steps that need to be taken. On this episode, we’re joined by Robin Fleischner, Adoption and Surrogacy Attorney, to help us understand recent legal developments in LGBTQ family equality, as well as the information you want to know to legally form and protect your family.

All Parents and Families Have Rights

No matter how your family is formed, parents have rights, and establishing legal parentage is important for LGBTQ parents. Robin discusses what you need to understand related to establishing your rights, why you need to work with a knowledgeable and specialized attorney, and she educates us on recent court proceedings and legislation that are helping to establish and protect your rights.

Adoption and Parentage are Matters of State Law

Robin and Shannon are most knowledgeable around New York and New Jersey adoption, surrogacy, and estate planning. Because these are matters of state law, you do want to make sure to understand the information in your state and consult with an attorney so that you can establish legal parentage for your child.
